Post-Olympic Rio

2017

In 2014 The City of Rio de Janeiro won the bid to host the Summer 2016 Olympics. With big dreams for light-rail infrastructure and urban renewal projects, the city overturned thousands of homes while selling major construction contracts to the same companies (Odebrecht, Camargo Corrêa) busted in Operacao Lava Jato (Operation Car Wash). To correct pandemic corruption and housing insecurity, a fictional public-private partnership is proposed to rehouse those displaced by the Barra da Tijuca olympic park.
